Yes Grassroots Groups
Campaigning Organisations
All Under One Banner AUOB organises Independence marches and rallies throughout Scotland and these are always hugely enjoyable and well organised. See the dates below for 2026:
Believe in Scotland Believe in Scotland is effectively a coalition of affiliated grassroots Yes Groups. It exists to reach out to undecided voters and to help coordinate, fund and support the needs of the grassroots Yes movement on a local and national level. Believe in Scotland is probably best known for its publication Scotland the Brief (in partnership with Business for Scotland), which makes the economic case for Scottish independence.
Salvo Salvo is the campaigning arm of Liberation Scotland. “We are dedicated to restoring Scotland’s national, constitutional and historic rights as set out in our interim constitution. Our mission is to bring the Scottish people together again and awaken them to the fact that Scotland’s constitutional future is not dependant on any political deal with a Westminster government. Instead, we will make them aware of the Claim of Right, which was not destroyed by the Treaty of Union but was a critical part of the UK’s creation and remains the lawful guarantee of Scotland’s deliberately hidden constitution.”

Independence Organisations and think tanks:
Common Weal is a people-powered think and do tank in Scotland. We seek to promote thinking, practice and campaigning on a wide range of social, economic and cultural areas. Some of our biggest issues are social and economic equality, participative democracy, environmental sustainability, wellbeing, quality of life, peace, justice and cooperation.
Constitution for Scotland There is now a reasonable expectation that within this generation Scotland will decide to leave the United Kingdom and once again become independent. We offer you an opportunity to shape the future of Scotland through its Constitution. On our website you can:
comment on our Model Constitution;
propose alternative wording; and,
comment on changes proposed by others.
The Independence Forum The Independence Forum met initially as an informal gathering of pro-independent groups, with the intention of re-uniting the movement. It commissions experts to develop a new prospectus for an independent Scotland, tackles the perceived obstacles associated with the process of independence and how they can be circumvented and supports the organisation of a National Convention that meets regularly with the purpose of energising the nation towards self determination, agrees practicable routes to achieving this, and discusses and refines the prospectus outlined above.
Liberation is the Liberation Movement connected with Salvo. Join the Scottish Liberation Movement by signing the Edinburgh Proclamation here: https://liberation.scot/EdinburghProclamation-new.html
Respect Scottish Sovereignty was created to describe how Popular Sovereignty, often referred to as Direct Democracy {DD}, can operate in tune with Scotland’s existing system of Parliamentary Sovereignty: The People and Regions control the Constitution & Legislation and Parliament & Government draft laws and run the country. The tools which enable this partnership for the Common Good are known internationally as Political Rights and they’re already available for devolved matters. You can sign the petition here.
Scotland Decides We are a not-for-profit organisation unaligned to any political party. Our purpose is to provide a verifiable and secure voting platform for all people in Scotland to use for the purpose of self-determination. We support grass-roots democracy through the People’s Assembly promoting decision making at community council and local authority level. We endorse the formation of a national convention and can provide video and text information as well as voting up to and including national level. Our system is designed to provide uncontestable results open to scrutiny at every level including a referendum.
Scottish Currency Group People working towards the introduction of a Scottish Currency ‘as soon as practicable’ after Independence Day. Dr Tim Rideout was the author and proposer of Amendment D in the April 2019 SNP Spring Conference.
Scottish Independence Convention The Scottish Independence Convention is a stakeholder organisation for all those who wish to see Scotland be an independent country. It brings together all the independence-supporting political parties (SNP, Scottish Greens, SSP), the national independence-supporting organisations and representatives of local grassroots groups.
Scottish Independence Foundation Unaligned to any political party nor part of any other pro-independence grouping, SIF aims to be a trusted custodian of funds, generated by individual contributions, large and small, channelling them, without prejudice, into projects which will benefit the movement. SIF dedicates itself to investing in the people of Scotland, their ingenuity, resourcefulness and talents, to take our country to Independence.
Scottish Sovereignty Research Group (SSRG) is a think tank, a group that brings Scottish constitutional academics and experts from around the world to research the big questions that an independent Scotland needs answers and policies for in an independent Scotland. They work closely with Salvo and hold conferences once a year.

Resources and history
Scottish Independence Library The Scottish Independence Library is run by volunteers who support Scotland’s right to self-determination. The library is a collection of resources related to Scottish independence, gathered from full range of movement and academic sources. The purpose of the library is to provide a resource from which audiences can learn and answer questions related to Scotland’s right to self-determination. We want the library to be valued as an authoritative, easy to use, reliable and accessible source of information useful to both the independence supporters the indy curious and the undecideds.

Robin McAlpine My name is Robin McAlpine and everything I’m doing with this website is purely in a personal capacity. I graduated from Glasgow University and then worked in journalism, political strategy and lobbying. In 2010 I decided to give up a well-paid career to try and do something to change Scotland for the better, setting up first the Jimmy Reid Foundation think tank and then after that Common Weal. I am still Head of Strategic Development at Common Weal and as committed to the work we’re doing there as I’ve always been.
