Plans for a National Yes Campaign Organisation

Introduction

Independence Forum Scotland (IFS) in 2023 and Yes United (YU) in 2025 were formed to re-activate a stalled independence movement. Both have similar aims: to unite the movement, produce a manifesto for independence, and hold regular meetings / conventions to energise debate on key issues related to independence.

IFS and Yes United collaborated on a successful event at Òran Mòr in Glasgow in March 2026. A range of individuals and representatives from pro-independence groups acted as facilitators and speakers for a day-time conference followed by a fantastic line up of musicians and poets resulting in a memorable social evening.

The event showcased how much genuine talent and intellect we have in the movement, and prompted the decision for IFS and Yes United to work together to create a national network organisation for autonomous Independence Organisations, Yes Groups and individual supporters to join/support if they wish, as outlined in this document. IFS and Yes United will also continue with their own programmes of work.

Proposal

Our goal is a confident successful Scotland in which the nation’s children can look forward to a life of achievement and fulfilment in their own country.

We aim to deliver, by democratic means, independence for Scotland at the earliest possible opportunity.

At present, there is party political stalemate. There is no serious strategy to achieve independence, a leadership vacuum and a pitifully underfunded and fractured movement.

Support for independence has decoupled from support for the SNP and sits around 50%. The SNP alone cannot deliver 50% support, far less 55-60%. There is latent energy in the movement, but this needs leadership, competence, vision and strategy. Funding, co-ordination and wider collaboration are also required.

YES 2030 aims to re-mobilise the Yes movement by providing:

• Vision: what a better nation looks like in all key areas

• Structure: a national network organisation

• Coordination: to promote political and organisational coherence

• Co-operation: to foster unity and collaboration in the movement

• Assistance: to develop economic, social & political programmes

• Finance: to run an effective movement and campaigns

• Professionalism: to raise the profile of campaigns

Objectives

• Strengthen support for independence up to and beyond 55%

• Educate and empower activists

• Connect across the movement via a National Yes Hub

Trustees will be key to success. Our guarantee is decent and honest governance, characterised by wisdom, experience and humility, not personal career advancement or prestige.

Staff

Yes2030 will raise funding for several staff members across the country to help with the smooth running of the organisation.

Media team

We will be recruiting a team with expertise in Media, Marketing and Communications.

Plan for statehood

Yes United is currently building a Manifesto for Statehood with consultation and collaboration across the movement. This work will continue in parallel to discussions on how to restore Scottish Independence in the fastest time possible.

Campaign/ data collection

We will be setting up systems to collect the information we need to become a successful campaigning force.

Work with all to achieve strategy for independence by early 2030s

The movement is currently fractured and we hope Yes2030 will bring together like-minded people to work together in a positive and constructive way to restore Scotland to her natural state of Sovereignty. Watch this space…
